Down House – English Heritage
Down House was the home of Charles Darwin and is now maintained by English Heritage. Grosvenor Wilton were involved in replacing the “Back Stairs” carpet as the old carpet was worn out. An Arts and Crafts Tulip and Lily design, dating back to the year the house was built, was chosen. This meant that the design worked well with the existing décor. The carpet was provided and installed by Linney Cooper.
The carpet was woven in a 10 pitch x 9 row quality, as a Woollen Spun Cut Pile Wilton. It was installed in the traditional way with stair rods for the runner.
